Patti received her Associates degree in Nursing from Southern Christian University in Tennessee in 1985. After working in a heart and lung transplant unit, and numerous critical care units as a cross country traveling nurse and at UNC and Rex Hospitals, she completed her BSN and Master’s degree in Public Health/Occupational Health Nursing from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1994. She is a NC Nurse Scholars Scholarship recipient and inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing in 1993 the same year her first child was born. Since then Patti has worked with numerous RTP pharmaceutical and computer development companies in worker’s compensation, disability management and occupational health as a senior occupational health nurse consultant through Duke University Occupational and Environmental Medicine Division. Patti has been employed with Carolina Case Management since 2000 focusing on worker’s compensation medical case management in the Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, and Henderson, NC areas.
