Carolina Case Management can manage worker comp claims to minimize your expense and assist the employee with a swift return to the work force. Our case manager nurses will coordinate and attend doctor’s appointments, follow-up with physicians, verify treatments and time-frames and generally expedite moving the employee back into the job. Tasks of the case manager can include:
Catastrophic Case Management
When a catastrophic injury occurs, early intervention is crucial. Initially, a case manager will obtain accurate status information on the injured worker from the treating hospital or healthcare provider. The case manager will continue to monitor the injured worker’s care and assist in the coordination of needs for discharge or transfer.
Coordination of IMEs
A case manager will coordinate and schedule an independent medical exam (IME) with an appropriate healthcare provider. Contact with the healthcare provider, injured worker, employer and insurance carrier will define and confirm requested information to be addressed by the healthcare provider. Upon approval from the injured worker and/or the injured worker’s attorney, the case manager will attend the IME appointment and report results to appropriate parties.
Carolina Case Management will arrange to have a specialized healthcare provider review medical records and diagnostic studies to determine appropriateness of care or proposed plan of treatment. A full report will follow the evaluation.
