Elizabeth Atkisson, RN, BSN, CCM, Case Manager (Charlotte, NC/Fort Mill, SC)

Elizabeth earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Roanoke College in Salem, VA in 2001 and has experience in the insurance industry as a Commercial Underwriter.  She also worked as a Patient Accounts Manager for a private practice.  She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from the University of North Carolina in Charlotte, NC.  Elizabeth is married and has three children.

Tracey Belton, RN, BSN, CCM, Case Manager (Stokesdale, NC)

Tracey received her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and has worked in the field of nursing since 1995.  She has been employed in the field of rehabilitation case management for workers' compensation claims since 2012.  Other nursing experience includes public health, medical intensive care, step down, interventional radiology, and post anesthesia care.  Tracey is a licensed RN in North Carolina and is a Certified Case Manager (CCM).

Susan Breedlove, RN, CCM, Case Manager (Randleman, NC)

Susan received her nursing degree from Guilford Technical Community College in 1991. She worked in various critical care settings. She began her career in Workers Comp in 1996. She has worked as a Workers Comp Team Leader in Utilization Management, Telephonic Case Management and Medical Bill review. She has been a Field Nurse Case Manager since 1999. She obtained her CCM certification in 2001. Other areas of nursing experience are orthopedic trauma, ocular injuries and surgical services.

Cindy Cook, RN, COHN, Senior Case Manager (Fairview, NC)

Cindy received her nursing degree from Caldwell Community College in Hudson, NC. She worked as the Nursing Director for Sisters of Mercy Urgent Care Inc. for nine years and with Blue Ridge Bone & Joint as the Clinical Director for the two years. Cindy obtained her COHN (Certified Occupational Health Nurse) designation in 1997. Cindy is a member of the American Association of Occupational Health Nurses (AAOHN). Areas of expertise include acute care, OSHA standards, orthopedic and correctional health care.

Michelle Dominguez, RN, BSN, CCM, Case Manager (Greensboro, NC)

Michelle received a bachelor’s of science degree in nursing from Wichita State University in 1984 in Wichita, Kansas. She has extensive nursing experience and has worked in both in and outpatient settings. Her experience has been in surgical intensive care/trauma, cardiology/telemetry, internal medicine, family medicine, endocrinology, gastroenterology, intravenous therapy/code team, teaching and occupational health. Michelle began working in as a workers’ compensation case manager in 2009 and is a certified case manager. She joined Carolina Case Management in 2012 and is bilingual and fluent in Spanish.

Deborah Edwards, RN, MSN, COHN-S, FAACM, Case Manager (Shelby, NC)

Debbie has over 30 years nursing experience. She has extensive experience in Occupational Health in various areas, workers' compensation, short/long term disability, ergonomics, early return to work programs and health promotion programs. She graduated Gardner-Webb University in 1983 with an Associate degree in Nursing. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing in 1992 from Queens University and her Master’s Degree in Nursing in 2008 from the University of Phoenix. She is a certified Occupational Health Nurse Specialist and a Fellow in the American Academy of Case Managers, where she serves on the advisory board. Debbie is an active member in the North Carolina Occupational Health Nurses Association. She currently serves as treasurer for the Metrolina Association of Occupational Health Nurses. She is dedicated to her profession and committed to providing quality care and proactive case management to her client.

Tami Engel, RN, Case Manager (Charlotte, NC)

Tami has worked in the hospitals and for the last 25 years, and has been in home health case management, which included being a director of nursing and administrator for agencies.  In 2014, she started workers comp case management.  Her hobbies include antiquing, boating and decorating.

Amanda Fox, RN, CCM, Case Manager (Lewisville, NC)

Amanda received her degree as a registered nurse from Forsyth Technical Community College in Winston-Salem, NC and has fourteen years of nursing experience. She has been employed for over 5 years in the field of rehabilitation case management for workers’ compensation claims. Other nursing experience includes medical-surgical hospital nursing and extensive home care knowledge including the position as Director of Clinical Services. Amanda is a licensed RN in NC and is a Certified Case Manager (CCM).

Patti Frohock, RN BSN, CCM, Case Manager (Charlotte, NC)

Patti Frohock graduated from Radford University in Virginia in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing.  She has over 17 years of experience as a Registered Nurse in Labor & Delivery, Medical ICU and Neurosurgical ICU.   Patti spent two years working as a hospital case manager and six years working as a Nursing Supervisor in a Level I Trauma Hospital.   She left the hospital setting to begin working in the Workers Comp field as a Nurse Case Manager and became a Certified Case Manager in 2015.  Patti has raised four children as a single mom and also has two granddaughters who are the light of her life.  Patti enjoys any time she can spend with her family as well as gardening, reading and weekend travel trips to explore.

Stasia Hann Hagerty, RN, BSN, CCM, CAT Nurse, Senior Case Manager, Bilingual (Charlotte, NC/Fort Mill, SC)

Stasia earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Florida International University. She has five years of work experience in Critical Care and Home Health Nursing and four years experience as a Nursing Supervisor in Home Health. Stasia has been providing quality care and proactive case management to her clients since 1998. She is a Certified Case Manager (CCM). Stasia also speaks Spanish fluently.

Kathy Hawkins, RN, CCM, QRP, Case Manager (Madison, NC)

Kathy Hawkins has worked as a Nurse Case Manager in the Workers’ Compensation field for 23 years. Her clinical expertise includes handling all types of trauma, including orthopedics, neurology, amputations, burns and traumatic brain injuries. Her work experience includes intensive care nursing, occupational health and workers’ compensation rehabilitation management. She was also the owner of Piedmont Case Management, a private rehabilitation company from 1997 – 2010. Kathy has been with CCM since August 2016 and is a Certified Case Manager. She is licensed to practice in NC, as well as Virginia. She received her Associate Degree in Nursing in 1981. She resides in Madison, NC with her husband Ken and her golden retrievers, Annie, Lizzie and Hazel.

Brenda Hemsath, RN, CCM, Case Manager (Rutherfordton, NC)

Brenda Hemsath is native to North Carolina who graduated in 1980 from USC-Spartanburg with a degree in nursing.  Her years of nursing include 20 + years in the emergency room setting, nurse management, discharge planner/utilization review and in the private sector as an industrial nurse.  Brenda joined the CCM team in June, 2013.  She says she enjoys this realm of nursing, especially helping the injured worker rehabilitate.  Brenda lives in the Rutherfordton, NC area and serves western North Carolina and the upstate area of South Carolina.  When not working, Brenda and her husband enjoy golfing, spending time with their 10 grandchildren (not all at once), and making stained glass.

Brandy Ledford, BS, RN, CCM, Senior Case Manager (Lincolnton/Hickory, NC)

Brandy obtained her Associates degree in nursing and arts from Gardner Webb University in Boiling Springs, NC. She also has a BS degree in Health Care Management in 2005 from Pfeiffer University in Charlotte, NC. She has nursing experience in family practice, medical-surgical and geriatric nursing and is a Certified Case Manager (CCM). Brandy is committed to providing quality care and proactive case management to her clients. She is a member of the International Association of Rehabilitation Professionals (IARP). Brandy joined Carolina Case management in 2006 and provides services in and around Hickory, Shelby, Lincolnton, Asheville, Statesville, Morganton and Charlotte, NC.

Christina Nieves, RN, CCM, Case Manager, Bilingual (Charlotte, NC/Fort Mill, SC)

Christina graduated from nursing school from Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing.  She has 17 years of experience in medical surgical nursing as well as endoscopy and cardiac step down unit.   Christina worked as medical case manager from 1999-2001 and was CCM certified.   After 7 years of experience with personal injury insurance company, she returned to case management in 2010 as a telephonic case manager and then to field case management in 2012. She is also bilingual in Spanish.

Maria Plott, RN, CCM, CDMS, Case Manager (Madison, NC)

Maria has over 30 years nursing experience and more than 25 years of case management experience.  She received her Associates degree in Nursing from Caldwell Community College in Hudson, NC.  Her prior clinical experience includes hospital staff nursing with experience in medical, surgical, obstetric care, and several years in long term care.   Maria is committed to education of patients and families, especially those with long term medical needs.  She strives to assist those patients to become their own advocates in managing their residual issues.  She holds CCM (certified case manager) and CDMS (certified disability management specialist) certifications.  She is a member of the Academy of Certified Case Managers.

Robin Primm, RN, BSN, COHN-S, CCM, Case Manager (Waxhaw, NC/Fort Mill, SC)

Robin has over 30 years nursing experience and is dedicated to the nursing profession. She is committed to providing excellent quality care and is proactive in the case management process. She has extensive experience in Occupational Health in both busy production facilities and office settings. She has worked as an occupational health nurse in both clinical and management roles. She graduated from the University of North Carolina, Charlotte nursing program with a BSN in 1981 and also has received certifications as Certified Occupational Health Nurse Specialist and Certified Case Manager. Robin is an active member of the Metrolina chapter of the North Carolina Occupational Health Nurses Association, having served on the board as chapter secretary and co-president. She is a published author in the AAOHN Journal, July 2010.

Judy Robinson, RN, CCM, CAT Nurse, Senior Case Manager (Charlotte/Hickory, NC)

Judy earned her nursing degree in 1993 after a successful career in brokerage sales in life and health insurance. Before entering workers’ compensation case management in 1997, and CCM in 2001, Judy’s clinical experience included acute rehabilitation, specializing in orthopedic and head injuries, home health, discharge planning and adult psychiatry. She is licensed to practice nursing in North Carolina and compact states. She is an active member of the North Carolina Association of Rehabilitation Professionals (NCARP), having served in the past as a board member.

Carol Royston, RN, CCM, CAT Nurse, Senior Case Manager (Gastonia, NC)

Carol obtained her nursing degree in 1976 and has extensive experience in Occupational Health Nursing including managed care and workers’ compensation case management. She has worked closely with OSHA and has experience with ergonomic and early return to work programs. Carol provides proactive case management for workers’ compensation, liability, accident and health and catastrophic cases. She began working for Carolina Case Management as well as beginning her case management career in 1999. Carol is a member of the case Management Society of America (CMSA).

Dana Sarti, BSN, RN, CRNI, CCM, CAT Nurse, Senior Case Manager (Sylva, NC)

Dana received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 1980. She is a licensed registered nurse in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee. Dana’s nursing experience includes eighteen years of home health care management with a specialty in Home Infusion Therapy. Dana is certified as a Medical Case Manager since 2002 (CCM) and has experience with severe orthopedic and catastrophic injuries. Dana has additional certification as a Certified Registered Nurse in Infusion Therapy (CRNI), which includes certification for chemotherapy administration. Dana’s clinical nursing experience includes, home health with orthopedics and rehabilitation services, oncology, cardiology, Infectious disease treatment including AIDS/HIV care and education. Dana has been a member of the National Infusion Nurses Society and Oncology Nurses Society for ten years. She is a member of the North Carolina Association of Rehabilitation Professionals (NCARP) in the Asheville, NC area. She lives in Sylva, North Carolina with her husband and two sons.

Sheri Thomas, RN, BSN, CCM, Case Manager (Greensboro, NC)

Sheri received her Associate’s Degree in Nursing in 1998 from Sandhills Community College in Pinehurst, NC then received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Winston Salem State University in 2009. She has over 15 years of nursing experience. She began her career as a neonatal ICU nurse then moved into the field of home care case management where she spent 6 years as a field case manager. Sheri’s other nursing experience has been in admission coordination/case management for comprehensive inpatient rehabilitation within a hospital setting.

Pamela Todaro, RN, BSN, ONC, CAT Nurse, Case Manager (Matthews, NC)

Pamela received her Nursing degree from Gardner Webb University in Boiling Springs, NC in 1997. She received her Bachelor’s in Nursing from Winston Salem State University and has her certification in Orthopedic Nursing. She brings to us a variety of nursing experience, primarily in orthopedics, medical/surgical nursing, and family practice. She has been highly involved in educating patients, families, and all members of the healthcare delivery team. She has been employed at Carolina Case Management since 2004 and is committed to providing and coordinating quality care for all individuals.

Sharon Utiss, RN, CCM, Case Manager (Gastonia, NC)

Sharon has been in Nursing for over 30 years and has worked in a wide variety of medical specialties and settings (Long Term Care, Home Care, Acute Care, Oncology, Dialysis, Private Insurance and Case Management). She obtained her LPN from Butler County Community College in Butler, PA and went on to Western Pennsylvania Hospital School of Nursing in Pittsburgh, PA where she obtained her RN. Sharon has been doing case management for the past 8 years and became a Certified Case Manager in 2012.  She is a member of International Association of Rehabilitation Professionals (IARP) and Case Management Society of America. Sharon is an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, and she has one grown son.

Angela Viar, RN, Case Manager (Saluda, NC)

Angela earned her Associates Degree in nursing at Southern Adventist University in Tennessee.  Her years of nursing include working in various medical surgical units and worked 11 years as one of the employee health nurses in the Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System.  Angela joined Carolina Case Management in January 2015.  Angela lives in Saluda, NC and serves the western North Carolina and upstate South Carolina area.

Diane Williams, RN, CCM, CDMS, CLCP, Case Manager (Marshall, NC)

Diane Williams is a graduate of the University of Tennessee's joint partnership with the Methodist Hospital School of Nursing. She is a Certified Case Manager and a Certified Life Care Planner.  Her case management career spans three decades. She was a founding member of the Case Management Society of America and owned and operated a consulting practice based out of Memphis, Tennessee for 22 years. She now lives on a 12-acre in the Western North Carolina mountains.

Edie Baluss, RN, Case Manager (Oriental/Wilmington, NC)

Edie Baluss has been in Nursing for over 25 years and has worked in a wide variety of medical specialties and settings.  She has experience as an admissions case manager, utilization review nurse, nursing supervisor, rehabilitation manager and Quality Resource Manager.  She obtained her LPN and RN education from Edgecombe Community College, Tarboro, NC.  Her hobbies include sewing, cooking, piano and enjoying time with her family and grandchildren.

Sue Brewer, RN, MSN, CCM, Senior Case Manager (Cary, NC)

Sue graduated from the University of Iowa with her BSN in 1987. She graduated from the Medical University of South Carolina with her MSN in 1991. She has 5 years of hospital experience, 7 years of Home Health experience and has worked as a Medical Case Manager since 1999. She is a member of the International Association of Rehabilitation Professionals (IARP) and joined CCM in 2005.

Susan Byers, RN, CCM, Senior Case Manager (Fayetteville, NC)

Susan Byers graduated from Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in Charlotte, NC in 1974. Since graduation she has worked in hospitals both in the USA and abroad, in nursing homes, and in home health agencies. She has held positions from Staff Nurse to Director of Nursing with administrative responsibility for as many as 75 staff and 170 patients. Her hospital experience includes work with medical and surgical patients and in labor and delivery for many years. Susan has a total of 6 years teaching experience at the college level and served in the Army Reserves for 12 years. Susan began at Carolina Case Management in 2000 and became a Certified Case Manager in 2003.

Amy Church, RN, CCM, Case Manager (Farmville, NC)

Amy earned her Associates Degree in Nursing in 2003 at Mitchell Community College in Statesville, NC. Prior to nursing, Amy was a Certified Recreation Therapist with a Bachelors’ Degree from East Carolina University. Her nursing career includes experience in Cardiac Critical Care, Home Health, and infusion. She has been working full time in worker’s compensation case management since 2012.

Billie Clark, RN, Case Manager (Little River, SC)

Billie has worked in Occupational Health, working with employees to teach them healthy lifestyle choices and performing screening tests that were industry specific to meet OSHA guidelines such as audiometric, pulmonary function, respirator fit testing, etc.  She has stayed in this field for 30 years working with textile companies, hospitals, pharmaceuticals and the hotel industry.  Billie has one daughter and two grandsons, ages 4 and 6.   In her spare time, she loves spending time with her family, traveling, reading, gardening, cooking, and dancing.

Margaret Costello, RN, COHN-S, CCM, CAT Nurse, Senior Case Manager (Wilmington, NC)

Margaret received her nursing degree from the Catholic Medical Center School of Nursing in 1977 and St. John’s University in 1983. She has been providing case management services for workers’ compensation claims since 1990. She has worked in Occupational Health since 1989 providing these services to both private industry and various municipalities. She also has experience in emergency nursing as well as providing case management services to the New York City Police Department-Health Services Division. She is a member of the American Association of Occupational Health Nurses and a past president of the local chapter of IARP. She has created presentations and provided CEU’s to adjuster’s in various parts of the state of North Carolina. She has provided presentations to both employers and adjusters related to medical case management.

Susan Davis, RN, MSN, CCM, Case Manager (Linden, NC)

Susan earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from UNC-Greensboro in 1979 and a Master of Science in Nursing from Georgia State University in 1987. Her nursing experience includes public health, labor and delivery, and home healthcare. She has provided medical case management with workers’ compensation and managed care insurance since 1987 in Georgia, South Carolina, & North Carolina. She joined Carolina Case Management team in 2011. She is a certified Case Manager (CCM) and a member of the Case Management Society of America.

Zoe Dyer, RN, CCM, CCS, Senior Case Manager (N. Topsail Beach, NC)

Zoe earned her Nursing degree from North Georgia University in Dahlonega Georgia. She has experience in Coronary Care and Home Health Nursing. She has 13 years experience in Acute Care Case Management including Acute Inpatient Rehab working with head and spinal cord injuries. She has been with CCM since 11/2004 and has been a Certified Case Manager (CCM) since 6/1/1999, a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) and is licensed to practice nursing in Georgia and North Carolina.

Tonya Eason, RN, CCM, Case Manager (Dunn, NC)

Tonya received her associate’s degree in nursing from Johnston Community College in 1994. During her 22 years of experience, she has obtained numerous certifications through various fields of nursing such as lactation consultant, child health screener with immunizations, public health nursing, Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement and obtained her Certified Case Manager Certificate in 2003. In addition to working in public health and labor and delivery, Tonya has a medical surgical background and has performed legal nurse consulting for a law firm. She began her worker’s compensation career in 2001.

Renee Ehlers, RN, COHN-CM, CAT Nurse, Case Manager (Sanford, NC)

Renee graduated as a licensed practical nurse from Montgomery Community College in Troy, NC in 1992. She began her career as a medical/surgical nurse at Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, NC. She worked for one year, then went to work as a geriatric nurse at PineLake Health and Rehab Center in Carthage, NC. She then began her career as an occupational health nurse at Perdue Inc. in Robbins, NC, meanwhile attending Randolph Community College in Asheboro, NC, where she graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1996. Renee continued to advance her knowledge in nursing and worked as a hemodialysis nurse for one year. She went to work for Townsends, Inc. as an occupational Health Nurse in 1998. Renee has been working with injured workers since 1998. Most of her experience has been as an occupational health nurse working first hand with the injured workers from the employer’s aspect. Renee has been a Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN) since 2001 and a Certified Case Manager (CCM) since 2006. She joined Carolina Case Management in 2009.

Christie Hampton, RN, CCM, Case Manager (Apex, NC)

Christie earned her Associates Degree in Nursing in 1996 at Wake Technical Community College in Raleigh, NC. Christie has obtained her diploma in Massage Therapy and was licensed as a Massage and Bodywork Therapist. She worked for 5 years in an OBGYN and Primary Care setting. She also has experience in Geriatric Nursing. For the last 7 years she worked in a Physical Therapy facility as a licensed massage and bodywork therapist, which included treating work related injuries. Christie has been employed with Carolina Case Management since 2012.

Carol Harris, RN, CCM, CAT Nurse, Senior Case Manager (Raleigh, NC)

Carol received her nursing degree in 1990. She has a variety of experience including eleven years in rehab nursing at WakeMed Acute Rehab Hospital, specializing in spinal cord injuries, rehab coordinator for a sub-acute therapy company, as well as experience in medical case management for workers’ compensation clients since March 1998. In addition, Carol has previously served as a board member of the NC Association of Rehab Nurses. Carol has been employed at Carolina case Management since 2000.

Teresa Hartsell, RN, BSN, CCM, Case Manager (Randleman, NC)

Teresa Hartsell graduated with her Associate Degree in Nursing in 1997 from Randolph Community College in Asheboro, NC, then received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Winston Salem State University in 2009. She has over 19 years of nursing experience. She started her career as a correctional nurse in a medical unit then moved into the home health field as a nurse case manager. She also has experience in long term care, psychiatric nursing, infusion therapy, wound care and long term acute care, LTAC. She has been working in the Workers’ Compensation field as a Nurse Case Manager since 2011 in North Carolina.  She joined Carolina Case Management team in 2015. She is a certified Case Manager (CCM).

Patrice Howard, RN, Case Manager (Raleigh, NC)

Patrice Howard received her Associate Degree in Nursing in 1996. She has a variety of hospital setting experience including working as a Registered Nurse on a medical surgical nursing unit, surgical intensive care unit, and in surgical operating department - all of which involved working with patients with significant medical and orthopedics conditions. She has been employed at Carolina Case Management since 2015.

Paula Howard, RN, MSN, CCM, CLCP, Senior Case Manager (Raleigh, NC)

Paula earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Niagara University, Niagara Falls, New York and a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her nursing experience includes public health, medical and surgical intensive care, and home healthcare. She has provided medical case management with workers’ compensation and managed care insurance since 1998 and joined Carolina Case Management in 2003. She is a certified Case Manager (CCM) and a certified Life Care Planner (LCP) and a member of the International Association of Rehabilitation Professionals (IARP). Paula is also CCM’s Senior Medicare Set Aside Agreements (MSA) Specialist.

Daryl Howett, RN, BSN, CCM, CAT Nurse, Senior Case Manager (LaGrange, NC)

Daryl earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from East Carolina University in 1986. Past nursing experience includes surgical intensive care, oncology, labor and delivery, home health care administration and case management with Workers’ Compensation and managed care insurance. She began Workers Compensation case management in 1998, has been a certified case manager since 2001 and joined Carolina Case Management in 2005.

Stephanie Jackson-Tkac, RN, BSN, CCM, Case Manager (Raleigh, NC)

Stephanie earned her Bachelor of Science Nursing degree at East Carolina University. Nursing experience in 3 major medical centers includes surgical trauma, cardiac, orthopedic/replant and infusion specialties. She has worked at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville, NC, North Carolina Baptist Hospital in Winston- Salem, and Duke University Medical Center. She has worked as a supervisor in Home Health Infusion specialty and with the American Red Cross. Past certifications include ACLS and CRNI. She is a Certified Case Manager with experience providing case management services for workers’ compensation since 1999. She joined Carolina Case Management in 2005.

Rebecca “Becky” Johnson, RN, CCM, CDMS, Case Manager (Hillsborough, NC)

The majority of Rebecca's experience has been in the workers compensation arena as she has worked at Duke as rehabilitation coordinator over 19 years, providing case management services to injured employees. She also helped facilitate their return to work program. She received her nursing degree in 1972 and she is certified as CCM and CDMS. She also served as Consultant in Charge of the Durham Crawford Rehabilitation office prior to her tenure at Duke. She also worked as a rehabilitation nurse covering the states of Oklahoma working with Employers Insurance of Texas working with catastrophic injuries. Previous nursing experience included work on a spinal cord unit as a charge nurse with O’Donohue Rehabilitation Center in OKC, OK. Her expertise is workers compensation as she has over 25 years of experience in this field of nursing practice. Rebecca began her employment with CCM in July, 2012.

Karen Lurie, RN, CCM, Case Manager (Kitty Hawk, NC)

Karen received her RN Diploma from Mercy Hospital (Pittsburgh, PA) School of Nursing in 1969 and has worked in various nursing settings ever since in Pennsylvania, California, New Jersey, Delaware and Virginia. She has worked in the field of Workers’ Compensation since 1995 and joined Carolina Case management in 2004. Karen is a Registered Nurse in North Carolina and Virginia and is a Certified Case Manager (CCM).

Melissa McNeal, RN, BSN, CCM, Case Manager (Greensboro, NC)

Melissa McNeal graduated from Guilford Technical Community College in 2003 with her Associates Degree in Nursing. She graduated from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro with her Bachelor’s Degree of Nursing in May 2014.  Melissa is a member of the National Honor’s Society of Nursing.   Most of her experience has been in cardiac nursing as she worked at High Point Regional Hospital in their Cardiac Intensive Care Unit then worked for 7 years with a Cardiology practice. She began Case Management as a telephonic case manager for United Health Care with their Congestive Heart Failure program. She joined Carolina Case Management in 2014.

Sandra Mears, BSN, RN, CCM, Case Manager (Durham, NC)

Sandra graduated from East Carolina University in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing and obtained her North Carolina Registered Nursing license soon after graduation. She began her career as a staff nurse in hematology/oncology at North Carolina Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem, NC. After many years of working with hospitalized patients, she transitioned in with the outpatient chemotherapy team at Bowman Gray School of Medicine, Winston Salem, NC. After a hiatus from nursing as she raised her three children, she entered back into nursing in endoscopy procedures. When the opportunity was offered to her, Sandra entered into occupational health nursing and occupational case management at Blue Cross Blue Shield North Carolina. Sandra has been working with injured workers since 2003. She joined Carolina Case Management in 2011 and is a Certified Case Manager.

Anne-Marie Munson, RN, BSN, CCM, Case Manager, (Kill Devil Hills, NC)

Anne-Marie earned her Diploma from Allentown School of Nursing (PA) in 1986. She moved to North Carolina in 1989. While still employed, she returned to school. In 1995, she earned her Bachelor of Science from East Carolina School of Nursing. Her experience has focused on pre/post open heart ICU and step down care. She also worked in cardiac and respiratory rehabilitation for one year prior to moving to the Outer Banks in 1998. Over the last 8 years, she has worked in home health/private duty nursing. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau and Phi Kappa Phi. She is married and has 2 children.

Laura Neal, RN, BSN, CCM, Case Manager (Raleigh, NC)

Laura obtained her nursing degree at East Carolina University in 1992. She has been providing case management services for worker’s comp since 2012. Laura spent 16 years working at Wake Med in Raleigh specializing in Neuro/trauma patients in the ICU. Laura has also worked as a case manager with high risk pediatric patients and in disease management, and she also has extensive experience in wound care consulting. Laura enjoys working CAT files and has successfully been managing these files and has established contacts with local hospitals/burn centers.

Michelle O’Dell, RN, CCM, Case Manager (Raleigh, NC)

Michelle O'Dell is a certified case manager who has worked in private case management for the past seven years.  Prior to that, she worked in oncology and in the ER.  Michelle enjoys spending time with her husband and children.  She is active in her church and enjoys outdoor activities and going to the beach or mountains.

Anita Ogle, RN, BSN, CCM, Case Manager (Advance, NC)

Anita received her Associates Degree in Nursing from Davidson County Community College and her BSN from Gardner Webb University.  She is a Certified Case Manager with experience working in the emergency department, intensive care unit and home care/ dialysis. She has experience in catastrophic case management and field case management in workers compensation.  Anita works primarily in the Triad area.  Anita's hobbies include reading, spending time with family, movies, and gardening.

Carolyn Powell, RN, COHN-S, CAT Nurse Case Manager, (Cedar Point, NC)

Carolyn graduated from nursing school in 1982. She has experience in occupational health nursing, home health nursing, and workers' compensation case management. She received her COHN-S (Certified Occupational Health Nurse Specialist) in 1995. In 2000, she joined the Carolina Case Management family as a workers' compensation case manager She is a member of the American Association of Occupational Health Nurses.

Christy Rawls, RN, CCM, Case Manager (Watha, NC)

Christy received her Associate’s degree in Nursing from James Sprunt Community College and has worked in the field of nursing since 1992.  She has been employed in the field of rehabilitation case management for workers’ compensation claims since 2007.  Other experience includes skilled nursing and home health care.  Christy is a licensed RN in North Carolina and is a Certified Case Manager (CCM).

Susan Saburro, RN, CCM, Case Manager (Fuquay-Varina, NC)

Susan Saburro received her nursing diploma from Albany Memorial School of Nursing in 1991. She obtained two years of medical/surgical experience, and five years as a case manager in the field with Schenectady County Visiting Nurses. Susan spent seven years performing utilization reviews for MVP HMO Insurance that required traveling daily to several hospitals and rehabilitation facilities before moving to Florida in 2005. She then worked as a telephonic complex case manager for nine years, and four years with Vitas Hospice in the field.  Susan then worked for Sunshine Health HMO, in the Medicare and Medicaid insurance department as a CCM, assisting members who had the Affordable Care Insurance for complex CM needs, and was chosen to be the only Senior Care Case Manager.  Susan obtained her CCM in 2013 and joined Carolina Case Management in January 2017.

Susan Shaw, RN, Case Manager (Lumberton, NC)

Susan earned her Associates Degree in Nursing in 1992 at Robeson Community College in Lumberton, NC, as well as certification in Medical-Legal Consulting in 1999 from Houston, Texas.  Her nursing career includes 18 years of experience in Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation as well as 4 years of experience with Long Term Acute Care (LTAC). She has been working full time in workers compensation case management since 2015.

Patti Stubbs, RN, COHN, CCM, CAT Nurse, Senior Case Manager (Winterville, NC)

Patti Stubbs is a Registered Nurse and Certified Occupational Health Nurse. Patti's past experience includes occupational health nursing providing on- site treatment to injured employee's and pro active case management to facilitate early return to work. Patti has also worked as an Instructor at Pitt Community College in the Certified Nursing Assistant Program, home health, geriatrics, student health and as a staff nurse at Pitt County Memorial Hospital. Patti joined CCM in 2000. She is a well known speaker for Carolina Case Management and is approved to provide continuing education seminars to the private sector of rehabilitation.

Pamela Teachey, RN, CCM, CLCP, CAT Nurse, Case Manager (Dudley, NC)

Pam earned her degree in nursing in 1992. She has been employed since 2001 with Carolina Case Manpagement and has over fifteen years in workers’ compensation rehabilitation case management. In the past, Pam has provided case management services to short and long-term disability claimants. In addition, Pam has experience as a Rehabilitation Supervisor and Assistant Director of Nursing in geriatric care. Prior nursing experience includes clinical med-surg nursing, nursing home and home health services. Pam obtained Certification for Case Management (CCM) in 1999, Certification for Life Care Planning and Medicare Set Asides in 2006.

Lynn Tew, RN, CCM, Case Manager (Fayetteville, NC)

Lynn obtained her Associates degree in nursing from Sampson Community College in Clinton, NC in 1996.  She has been employed for six years as a medical case manager in workers’ compensation.  Lynn brings a variety of nursing experience, primarily with orthopedics, medical/surgical nursing, and pediatrics.  Prior clinical nursing experience includes fourteen years of pediatric ICU/floor charge nurse, as well as PACU recovering nurse in a surgical setting. She has experience in caring for patients with a wide range of diagnoses from critical to outpatient surgical care. Ginger Vervisch, RN, CCM, Case Manager (Winterville/Greenville)

Ginger earned her Degree in Nursing in 2004. Her experience includes Workers’ Compensation Case Management, Home Health Care, Renal Dialysis and Staff Nurse.  She has been a Certified Case Manager since 2010 and has worked as a Field Case Manager in Eastern North Carolina since 2008. Ginger is married, has a daughter and a step son.

Kimberly Weaver, RN, BSN, CCM, Case Manager (Wake Forest, NC)

Kim obtained her Associates Degree in Science from Southwestern College in California and her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from University of Phoenix. Kim will complete her Master’s in Business Administration from The George Washington University in December of 2017. She is a Certified Case Manager with trauma and emergency room experience. Kim has extensive experience with catastrophic case management including multi-trauma, spinal cord and brain injury cases. Karen Lurie, RN, CCM, Case Manager (Kitty Hawk, NC)

Karen received her RN Diploma from Mercy Hospital (Pittsburgh, PA) School of Nursing in 1969 and has worked in various nursing settings ever since in Pennsylvania, California, New Jersey, Delaware and Virginia. Elizabeth Atkisson, RN, BSN, CCM, Case Manager (Charlotte, NC/Fort Mill, SC)

Elizabeth earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Roanoke College in Salem, VA in 2001 and has experience in the insurance industry as a Commercial Underwriter.  She also worked as a Patient Accounts Manager for a private practice.  She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from the University of North Carolina in Charlotte, NC.  Elizabeth is married and has three children.

Billie Clark, RN, Case Manager (Little River, SC)

Billie has worked in Occupational Health, working with employees to teach them healthy lifestyle choices and performing screening tests that were industry specific to meet OSHA guidelines such as audiometric, pulmonary function, respirator fit testing, etc.  She has stayed in this field for 30 years working with textile companies, hospitals, pharmaceuticals and the hotel industry.  Billie has one daughter and two grandsons, ages 4 and 6.   In her spare time, she loves spending time with her family, traveling, reading, gardening, cooking, and dancing.

Stephanie Corley, RN, Case Manager (Lexington, SC)

Stephanie Corley earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Erskine College in Due West, SC in 1997.  Stephanie went on to earn her ADN in Nursing from Midlands Technical College in 2001. Stephanie worked as a critical care nurse in the ICU/Trauma and Post Anesthesia Care Unit for seven years. She then worked as nurse for a Neurosurgeon, in the Columbia, SC area, for seven years. She joined the Carolina Case Management team in 2015. Her hobbies include hiking, traveling, reading and listening to music.

Sharon Cumbee, RN, CCM, Case Manager (Charleston, SC)

Sharon Cumbee earned her nursing degree from The Technical College of the Lowcountry in Beaufort, SC. She has been a Registered Nurse for over 10 years.   Sharon has worked in a variety of specialty areas including intermediate cardiac care, critical care, neuro-spine and Women's Health.  She has experience working with chronic pain management patients, and with conservative spine care physicians utilizing non-operative pain management procedures.  Sharon is a certified case manager with over 4 years of experience in worker's compensation.  She joined Carolina Case Management in 2015.

Martha Dealy-Sparks, RN, CCM, Senior Case Manager (Murrells Inlet, SC)

Martha obtained her nursing degree in 1972. She began hospital case management in the early 1980’s, psychiatric case management in 1987, and Infectious Disease management in 1991. Her nursing experience includes Occupational Health Nursing, Sports Medicine, Managed Care, Psychiatric Case Management, Risk Management, and Infection Control. She has extensive experience in Employee Crisis Intervention. Martha started with CCM in 2008 after extensive marketing and sales experience in workers compensation case management services. Martha provides proactive case management for workers’ compensation, liability, accident, and health cases, and is committed to providing quality care and case management to her clients. Martha was was the founding President for Kids’ Chance of NC, Inc from 2004 through 2011.

Rebecca Gamble, BA, RN, CCM, Case Manager (Donalds, SC)

Rebecca is a 1995 graduate of Erskine College with a BA in Behavioral Science. She then went on to graduate in 1997 from Piedmont Technical College with an Associate’s Degree in Nursing. Her main focus in her nursing career has been in critical care. She has worked in ICU, CCU, Operating Room and the Emergency Department. Rebecca has been the Director of Case Management for an Inpatient Rehabilitation Hospital. She spent her years prior to joining CCM as an Infusion Nurse for a Rheumatology Practice.  Rebecca lives in Due West, SC with her husband Brian and her two children Zach and Hunter.

Laurie Haddock, RN, MSN, CCM, Case Manager (Beaufort, SC)

Laurie has been a nurse case manager for Worker’s Compensation for 12 years. Her areas of expertise include trauma, injury/illness prevention, rehabilitation, ergonomics, worker’s compensation claim management, and health/wellness teaching. She has worked in a variety of healthcare settings including acute intensive care, nursing instruction, nursing administration and public health. She has been with Carolina Case Management since 2015 and is a Certified Case Manager. She is licensed in South Carolina and Georgia. Stasia Hann Hagerty, RN, BSN, CCM, CAT Nurse, Senior Case Manager, Bilingual (Charlotte, NC/Fort Mill, SC)

Stasia earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Florida International University. She has five years of work experience in Critical Care and Home Health Nursing and four years experience as a Nursing Supervisor in Home Health. Tina Kennedy, RN, Case Manager (Summerville, SC)

Tina Kennedy graduated from Palm Beach Community College with an AS in Nursing in 1987.  She has a diverse background of nursing including pediatrics, public health and dialysis. In public health, she was in charge of the TB program and women's health program. She spent the last ten years educating clients on how to do home dialysis and spent five of those ten years managing and expanding the home program from 2 clients to 16 clients.

Carolyn McSwain, RN, BS, Case Manager (Dillon, SC)

Carolyn McSwain graduated from NC State University in 1995 with her BS in Animal Science and from Florence Darlington Technical College in 2009 with her Associates Degree in Nursing. Carolyn is a volunteer certified CPR instructor with The American Red Cross; she has been certified since 2012. Carolyn also works as the RN consultant for the Marion-Dillon County Special Needs and Disabilities Board where she is responsible for the Med Tech Training along with any other clinical training needed for consumer caregivers. She joined CCM in 2012 and is employed part time at the present. Carolyn is also employed with Life Plans as an independent contractor; this job is a PRN job conducting long term care assessments.

Christina Nieves, RN, CCM, Case Manager, Bilingual (Charlotte, NC/Fort Mill, SC)

Christina graduated from nursing school from Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing.  She has 17 years of experience in medical surgical nursing as well as endoscopy and cardiac step down unit.   Christina worked as medical case manager from 1999-2001 and was CCM certified.   After 7 years of experience with personal injury insurance company, she returned to case management in 2010 as a telephonic case manager and then to field case management in 2012. She is also bilingual in Spanish.

Robin Primm, RN, BSN, COHN-S, CCM, Case Manager (Waxhaw, NC/Fort Mill, SC)

Robin has over 30 years nursing experience and is dedicated to the nursing profession. She is committed to providing excellent quality care and is proactive in the case management process. She has extensive experience in Occupational Health in both busy production facilities and office settings. She has worked as an occupational health nurse in both clinical and management roles. She graduated from the University of North Carolina, Charlotte nursing program with a BSN in 1981 and also has received certifications as Certified Occupational Health Nurse Specialist and Certified Case Manager. Robin is an active member of the Metrolina chapter of the North Carolina Occupational Health Nurses Association, having served on the board as chapter secretary and co-president. Emily Ray, RN, BSN, CCM, Case Manager (Anderson, SC)

Emily graduated from Clemson University in 2003 with a bachelor’s of science degree in nursing. She began her nursing career in the post-partum setting, and later transferred to home health. Emily worked for several years in healthcare sales and marketing until the birth of her first child, when she returned to the hospital setting. Emily has critical care and trauma experience in emergency nursing, and outpatient surgery experience with surgical patients ranging from orthopedic, neurological, cardiovascular and general medical-surgical. Emily is currently in the process of becoming a Certified Case Manager.

Mary Ann Romanstine, RN, Case Manager (North Charleston, SC)

Mary Ann earned a nursing degree from Midlands Technical College, Columbia, S.C. in 1996. She attended the University of South Carolina. She worked 15 years in Obstetrics and Gynecology and then worked for Family Practice Clinic at Beaufort Naval Hospital with retirees and active duty family members. In addition, she worked as an Employee Health Nurse and managed all Workers Compensation claims for employees in Long Term Care also responsible for the facility Lift Team. Mary Ann is married with two daughters and two grandsons. She enjoys spending time at the beach, golfing, and spending time with her family.

Katie Schopp, RN, CCM, CAT Nurse, Senior Case Manager (Lexington, SC)

Katie earned her nursing degree from Midlands Technical College in Columbia, SC in 1994. She has been a nurse for over sixteen years with strong work experience in trauma, orthopedics, spinal injuries, pain management and chronic disease management. She began in a post-surgical unit at a hospital, transferred to ICU, and then went into the home health field after having her first child. She has been working as a nurse case manager since 2001. Melonie Wright, RN, CCM, Case Manager (Lexington, SC)

Melonie received her nursing degree from the University of South Carolina in 1977.  She has been in the worker’s compensation industry for more than 20 years.  Melonie has been a certified case manager since 2005 and has worked in orthopaedics, neurosurgery , general med-surg,  hemodialysis, geriatrics, home health, precertification,  utilization and concurrent review.  She has two children (twins- one is a Clemson Fan and one is a Univ of South Carolina fan). She loves watching college football, especially Clemson Tiger football, and enjoys golfing and bowling where she was inducted into the SC Midlands Bowling Hall of Fame and SC State Bowling Hall of Fame for Bowling Achievement.

Linda Zavasnik, RN, CCM, Bilingual, Case Manager (Travelers Rest/Greenville, SC)

Linda earned a bachelor's degree in nursing from the University of Miami, Coral Gables, Florida. She has varied experience in case management which includes workers compensation, home health, and hospital case management. She also has experience in utilization management in managed care and commercial insurance. Linda is married and has one grown son. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening, biking, and hiking the beautiful trails of the upstate of South Carolina and Western North Carolina.
