Western-Central North Carolina
Melissa earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Social Science with concentration in Psychology from Bluefield State College in Bluefield, West Virginia. She obtained her Master’s in Rehabilitation Counseling at West Virginia University. Her past work experience includes six years as a Social Worker at Tazewell County Department of Social Services in Tazewell, Virginia where she worked in the Adult Protective Services unit. She was an intern Melissa with the West Virginia Division of Rehabilitation Services for two years. Upon graduation Melissa was hired as a Rehabilitation Counselor for a general caseload and assisted her clients with obtaining or maintaining suitable employment. Melissa also earned her certification and takes great pride in being a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor since 2013. Personally, Melissa has been married to her high school sweetheart, Daniel, for 7 years. They now have two high energy and amazing little boys: Eli is 4 and Camden is 2.
Jennifer earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Appalachian State University in 1996. She was a classroom teacher for three years and then decided to pursue a different career path. She currently holds North Carolina insurance licenses in property/liability, life/health, and long term care. Jennifer started working in the vocational rehabilitation field with Carolina Case Management in 2002. She began working as a case manger in 2007, and earned her certification as a Certified Disability Management Specialist (CDMS) in 2011. She specializes in job development and consulting. She is a member of the International association of Rehabilitation Professionals (IARP).
Shelley joined Carolina Case Management in 1999. She is a Return to Work Specialist and the developer of the CCM digital job analysis. She regularly provides presentations on how to address return to work challenges to employers, carriers, safety groups and rehab committees. She also provides in-house training seminars and webinars for Carolina Case Management. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Tennessee in and a Master’s of Science degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Georgia State University in 1992. She has been working since 1992 providing vocational rehabilitation services both in the private and public sectors in Western North Carolina. She is also a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC).
Central-Eastern North Carolina
Rachel has extensive in case management, having begun her career in 1994 and joining Carolina Case Management in 2001. She earned a BS degree in Social Work from East Carolina University and a Master of Science in Rehabilitation Counseling from ECU. Rachel holds the title of CRC and has provided expert testimony for workers’ compensation cases and ADA cases. Rachel has worked for various customers such as VA, WC carriers, LTD carriers and both plaintiff and defense attorneys. A counseling background enables Rachel to effectively work with those who have endured trauma, have psychological issues and/or substance abuse problems. Rachel has undergone training in literacy tutoring and is able to work with clients who are lacking reading skills. Rachel is a member of the North Carolina Rehabilitation Counseling Association.
Melissa received her Masters of Science Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling as well as Substance Abuse Counseling from East Carolina University in 1996 following earning her Bachelors of Science Degree in Psychology from North Carolina State University in 1993. She began her career in private sector vocational rehabilitation just prior to graduating from her Masters program where she worked as a Job Developer. Upon graduation, she was promoted to Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor. Melissa began working with Carolina Case Management in 2001. She has extensive experience in all areas of vocational rehabilitation counseling including job placement, labor market surveys, job analysis, serving as an expert witness. Experience also includes wage earning capacities and long term disability. She is also well versed in diagnosing and treating individuals with mental health and substance use disorders. Hobbies include running and volunteering with animal rescue.
Kim received her Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling and Vocational Evaluation from East Carolina University. She is a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) and Certified Ergonomic Assessment Specialist (CEAS) with over sixteen years’ experience in the private sector. Prior to working in the private sector Kim worked for State Vocational Rehabilitation assisting individuals with disabilities in job placement as well as working on job seeking skills. Kim began working in the private sector in 2001, the same year joining Carolina Case Management. She has extensive experience in conducting labor market surveys, vocational assessments, job analysis, providing vocational case management/job placement, serving as an expert witness, and conducting earning capacity evaluations for family law litigation and independent vocational assessments for Social Security. Professional affiliations include membership in the National Rehabilitation Counseling Association (NRCA), International Association of Rehabilitation Professionals (IARP) and she is an Associate member of The American Board of Vocational Experts. Kim has served as Treasure and is past President of NRCA. She is the current secretary for IARP of the Carolinas’ and participates on the Conference Planning Committee. Kim and her husband Brandon live in Elm City with their son Mason and daughter Brilee.
▶ Pam Harris, MA, CRC, LPC, CCM, Senior Disability Analyst & Diplomate, Senior Case Manager (Wake Forest, NC)
Pam earned a Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation Psychology at Appalachian State University in 1982. She was employed by the NC Division of Vocational Rehabilitation for ten years in various capacities before entering private sector vocational rehabilitation in 1993. Pam began working with Carolina Case Management in 1996. She has extensive experience in conducting labor market surveys, locating community resources, serving as an expert witness, providing vocational assessments/job placements, and vocational case management. She is a member of the International Association of Rehabilitation Professionals (IARP). In 2003 and 2004 she served on the faculty of Wake AHEC, teaching the Rehabilitation Services portion of the CCM Prep Course. Pam has completed Graduate Certificate Programs in Gerentology (2004) and Substance Abuse & Addictions Counseling (2011).
Scott has been a Certified Disability Management Specialist (CDMS) since 1996, with a Bachelor’s degree from N.C. State University and Master’s coursework in Counseling Education-Vocational Testing. He has been providing medical and vocational case management services in central and eastern North Carolina in the private rehabilitation sector since 1991, and has been with CCM since 2006. He has four years of experience as a supervisor in vocational rehabilitation. He worked with state referred vocational rehabilitation clients for three years in a private non-profit company. He has experience providing services in Worker’s Compensation, Long Term Disability, and with the Veterans Affairs programs. Other training includes certification to provide Vocational Evaluations to adult brain injured individuals, and experience conducting Ergonomic Evaluations for office and industrial workers. Some of the service areas he provides include- Vocational Evaluation, Vocational Counseling, Job Seeking and Preparation Skills, Job Placement, Labor Market Surveys, and Job Training coordination.
Leslie graduated from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1991 with a BA. She then received a Master’s degree in 1994 in Rehabilitation Counseling and Vocational Evaluation from East Carolina University. Leslie began working in private rehabilitation and has experience in the areas of work hardening, vocational evaluation, job placement, case management, job site evaluation and vocational counseling. Leslie is a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) and is a member of the International Association of Rehab Professionals (IARP) and the Carolina Chapter of Rehab Professionals.
