    What does the Medical Case Manager do?

    Adding value to the workers’ compensation claims management process is a responsibility we strive for every day. Proactive and effective claims management practice requires a collaborative approach from an experienced team of professionals.

    The Medical Case Manager can significantly reduce the duration and cost of workers’ compensation claims by coordinating care and return-to-work efforts for injured employees. Their job is to facilitate the claims process by advocating for the injured worker’s medical needs with a goal of safe return to work – all while ensuring a continuous flow of communication among medical providers, claims adjusters, attorneys, the injured worker and the employer.

    The Medical Case Manager proactively discusses plan of care and return to work projections, follows up with workers to ensure they are getting the care they need, arranges for modified or alternate duty with employers and reports all activity to all parties, as outlined by the North Carolina Industrial Commission, to promote a clear understanding of goals, progress and claims resolution.
