Joan began her career in nursing after earning her diploma degree from the Mercy School of Nursing in Charlotte, NC. She later attained her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Gardner Webb University in Boiling Springs, NC. She has been licensed in North Carolina as a Registered Nurse since 1981 and holds a compact state licensure. Joan received certification as COHN-S in 1993 and is also recognized as a North Carolina Rehab professional by the North Carolina Industrial Commission. After working four years as a hospital staff nurse, and eighteen years as an occupational health nurse in industrial settings, Joan transitioned to the role of workers compensation case manager. Eighteen+ years in industrial nursing and twenty+ years in case management has afforded Joan the opportunity to develop advanced skills in working with employers and clients for successful case outcomes. Areas of expertise include Occupational health, workers compensation, orthopedics and health education. Away from work, Joan enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons, church activities, traveling, cooking and baking. Joan joined Carolina Case Management in 2022.
